A collaboration with friends Dr. Sara Cleto and Dr. Brittany Warman of The Carterhaugh School of Folklore & The Fantastic upon the publication of their first book, FAIRYLORE!
The nisse is the Norwegian and Danish version of a fairy that is extremely common throughout Scandinavian folklore. Other names include tomte (Sweden), tomtenisse and tonttu (Finland)... A nisse tends to be short in stature, with a long white or gray beard, and a distinctive, brightly colored hat. He loves porridge (there’s a widespread folk belief about giving your nisse porridge once a year) and horses (to pet, not eat). The nisse is especially delighted by moonlight, and in the winter months he enjoys playing outside and riding in sledges.

NISSE: A comforting, homey blend of oatmeal porridge spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, then topped with a dollop of sweet cream.

Available in candle tin or glass tumbler format.
Tins: Our 8oz candle tin measures 3" wide by 2" deep, and holds approximately 7 oz of wax by weight. The wax is topped with an overspray of iridescent glitter. The candles burn for approximately 30-35 hours.
Glass tumblers: These candles measure 3" wide by 3.5" tall, and contain 9 oz of wax for a burn time of 40+ hours. They are topped with a candle-safe glittering overspray.
The glitter I use is safe for use in candles, and the ultrafine particles will not clog your wick.
