Lately, there's been a lot of talk about what's wrong with America. Lots of long winded nonsense about how 1% of our population is destroying the moral fabric of our country... and they're not talking about the billionaires who aren't paying their fair share of taxes. There's also been lots of whinging about DEI, their newest dogwhistle for a panoply of tired slurs.
Here's the thing, gang: it's all bullshit. Hate never made any nation great. America was built on the backs of enslaved people and immigrants, upon stolen soil. It is because of the hard work and cultural contributions of our diverse populations that America rose in the world. Our potential for greatness does not lie in some moldering racist past, but in fighting for the future and soul of our nation.
At Sihaya & Company, we have always made a strong effort to feature a diverse range of makers in our seasonal boxes, and that is a commitment we will continue. Nay, double down on! In this box, you will only find items by makers who fall under that newly-maligned term, "DEI." Some of us are trans, some queer, some Black, some multiracial, some disabled, some neurodiverse, some more than one of those things. And we're darn good at what we do.
Remember: together we stand, and divided, we fall. Stand with your communities, back each other up, protest and call your reps. Together, we are indivisible.
